EMPIRE GAMES
Improvements To Park Improvements to Queen Elizabeth II Park to bring it up to the required standard if Christchurch is chosen as the venue for the Empire Games in 1970 or 1974 were supported by the reserves committee of the City Council, a report to the council said on Monday evening. The committee was told recently that the park would need covered seating for 4000 and open seating for another 10,000. The finance committee said it had adopted the reserves committee’s suggestion in principle, and had asked the City Treasurer (Mr L. A. G. Rich) and the Director of Reserves (Mr H. G. Gilpin) to confer on the projected needs of the park.
