BRITISH ARMS
Sales To Be Increased (N Z P A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, July 14, Britain is to appoint a “super salesman” to sell arms to allied, Commonwealth and other friendly Governments, the Prime Minister (Mr Wilson) announced today. He told the House of Commons that one of the things which unbalanced the position of the N.A.T.O. Alliance was high-pressure American salesmanship. “The Americans themselves have said they would welcome our appointing a super salesman.” he said. “This we shall do.”
Mr Wilson said he thought there was a strong desire that Britain should make more effective arrangements in pressing the sale of British arms abroad, particularly with her aliies.
