Spray Curtain Across Road
GVJJ. Pre,, Association) M’ELLINGTON, July 15. An estimated 80,000 gallons of water escaping from a damaged main caused a 140 ft curtain of spray across the Hutt road south of Petone for an hour today, when a grader broke a fire hydrant. The damaged main carried water under 1501 b pressure from Wainui-o-mata to the city. Road traffic and electric trains between the Hutt Valley and Wellington were sprayed and motor-cyclists received a ducking.
