(From Our Parliamentary Reporter)
WELLINGTON, July 15. The Institute of Nuclear Sciences is still detecting movements of atomic debris as a result of the United States high altitude nuclear test over Johnston Island on July 9,1962.
The annual report of the ' Scientific and Industrial Re- i search Department says the i Americans, in an endeavour i to obtain more definite in- i formation on the movement of atomic debris in the atmo- i sphere, introduced a radio- i active tracer into the test. The tracer, cadmium-109, i
which was not a fission product, was detected definitely for the first time by the institute in September and October of last year. In efforts to determine the arrival of debris in the Antarctic, the department is investigating snow from two snow mines at Scott Base.
