LEGISLATION WANTED
Nassella Work Subsidies
The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Taiboys) will be asked to speed up legislation to allow payment of subsidy on nassella tussock control work outside the area controlled by the North Canterbury Nassella Tussock Board. This decision was reached at a meeting yesterday of the Canterbury Nassella Tussock Co-ordinating Committee after the chairman (Mr W. C. Miller) had said that the Minister had said some time ago that legislation would be introduced, but nothing had since been heard.
The Department of Agriculture’s fields superintendent (Mr A. R. Dingwall) said that draft legislation had been considered by the interdepartmental committee, which had suggested additional detail provisions. The idea had been to get the final draft to the Minister as soon as possible.
