(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. What is believed to have been a record for betting per head marked the financial side of the racing at Trentham yesterday. A crowd of 6130 Invested £135,880 on the course on the second day of the Wellington Racing Club's winter meeting. This was over £22 per head, and it gave the club an increase of £20,060 10s on its oncourse betting operations on the corresponding day last year. Off-course betting rose by £12,443 5s from £259,717 10s to £272,161 ss. Win and place bets amounted to £127,446 10s and £144,714 15s was Invested on the double. The off-course substitute was Maria Mitchell (No. 4).
