N.Z. Shares Steady On Quieter Market
New Zealand shares were steadier in yesterday’s trading with key stocks following the same trend on a less active market. Overseas issues were firmer. Christchurch turn-over was down. Among New Zealand gains Wright Stephenson rose Is 2d to 32s 6d after firming on quotation, while J. Wattie reached an ex rights peak 6d up at 20s. Other advances were made by Southland Frozen Meat. New Zealand Farmers Fertiliser, Rothmans, Tappenden and Von Kohom, while British Office Supplies and Neeco firmed ex dividend.
Dominion Breweries weakened with a 4d fall to 17s 6d, while Autocrat and Bell slipped. Boral made the best rises among Australian issues with a Is rise to 225, but Bank of N.S.W., Ampol and David Jones declined.
