MACHINERY DISPLAY

Contractors’ Plans A display of machinery will be held at the Addington Show Grounds next month as part of the annual conference of the New Zealand Associated General Contractors’ Federation. The display will be open to the public. Exhibitors have booked more than 28,000 sq. ft of space, and it is expected that more will be booked. About 300 delegates, including some from Australia, will attend the conference. Christchurch appeared to hold an attraction for delegates. the secretary of the Canterbury branch of the federation (Mr J. J. B. Connor) said. Not only did it seem the conference would be the biggest yet held, but three out of four delegates were bringing their wives. On the basis of past conferences it was thought about half the delegates would bring their wives. The conference is being organised by the Canterbury branch’s executive under its chairman (Mr B. B, Woods). The conference on August 18, 19, and 20, will be held in the Wool Exchange. It will be officially opened by the Minister of Works (Mr Allen), and the Mayor (Mr G. Manning) will welcome delegates.
