Obituary MRS E. K. N. ADAMS

AUCKLAND, July 13.
Mrs Eileen Kate Nesta Mams, M.8.E., one of the founders of and a nation, a 1 president of the former Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, has died in Thames Hospital, aged 76. She had been crippled for many years. Her husband s he late Colonel N. P. Adams was commandant of Featherston Mil itary Camp during the First World War. They first settled in Nelson and then bought a large rough property at Matingarahi, on the Firth of Thames, and lived in tents while their home was built.
They were benefactors to many causes. Their home, “Melrose” in Nelson, was given to the W.D.F.U. as a rest home for farmers’ wives. They paid for a Spitfire fighter in the Second World War and gave 1000 acres of land to the Auckland City Council.
