AUCKLAND BEATEN
Shield For Northland (N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI, July 13. Northland scored its first representative Rugby win at the new Okara Park in Whangarei today when it beat Auckland, 16-14, and regained the Coronation Shield. Northland led, 11-6, at halftime but was down, 11-14. with only 14 minutes to go. A converted try nine minutes from the finish gave Northland the winning points . S. Going, L. Cook, P Younger and A. Rogers scored tries for Northland and E. J. Thompson converted two. For Auckland, K. Nelson, D. Connor and D. McKay scored tries, and W. A. Davies converted one and kicked a penalty. At New Plymouth. Kine Country scored 12 tries in thrashing Horowhenua, 51-3 Six of the tries were converted by R. Parr, who also kicked a penalty goal. Horowhenua scored a penalty goal, kicked by J. Seymour. The try scorers were J. Mcllroy (4), H. Tapsell (3), B. Hall (2), I. Ingram, C. E. Meads and R. Flintoff.
