Training Flights Since the Hercules air craft of the Royal New Zealand Air Force began local training about two months ago they have made 10 Tasman crossings. In every case the destination has been the Royal Australian Air Force base at Richmond, near Sydney. The exercise normally takes 12 hours including a two-hour stop-over. The idea is to give pilots and navigators experience of long-range flights. The crews have also been able to train with the instrument landing system at Richmond. High Level Move Mr A. Narrow Margin An oil company has won a contract to supply the Auckland Regional Authority’s drainage division with petrol and diesel fuel by Id a gallon difference on its diesel fuel price. Six firms all quoted 3s 2d a gallon for pettrol, but B.P. (N.Z.), Ltd., quoted Is 3d a gallon for diesel fuel compared with the Is 3jd quoted by the other companies, and won the contract. Last year the division used nearly 75 000 gallons of diesel fuel and about 30.000 , gallons of petrol. The saving of Id a gallon on 75,000 ■ gallons is £156 ss. Work On Terminal Work is proceeding rapidly at the new roll on-roll off terminal at Lyttelton. The drive-on ramp is taking shape and the steel skeleton of the terminal building is rising up. Specially fabricated roofing for the terminal building is now being assembled at Lyttelton and will be placed in position later. Yesterday, a heavy stone slab went into position to form part of the wall of the structure.
