DYSTROPHY

U.K. Research Planned

The first laboratory in Britain entirely devoted to muscular dystrophy research has opened in London. It marks the beginning of a fiveyear research programme sponsored by the British Muscular Dystrophy Group, costing £600,000. The laboratory, which is attached to the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases, will carry out special research on the disease, which is hereditary and most common and severe among children, mainly boys. Like the British Cancer Research Fund, the Muscular Dystrophy Group is supported mainly by private subscriptions.
