FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone covers the North Island, Nelson and Marlborough. A weak frontal zone is advancing over the south-west of the South Island. Forecast:

Canterbury, Kaikoura Coast, central Marlborough and Nelson.—Light to moderate variable winds; partly cloudy and cool. Outlook: cloudy. Marlborough Sounds.—Fresh north-west winds; cloudy and cool. Outlook: some light rain. Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate variable winds; mainly overcast and cool; some brief periods of light rain. Outlook: mainly cloudy.
