FELL DOWN HILL
Young Girl Injured
A young girl suffered serious head injuries when she fell about 20ft down a hillside on to rocks on Cashmere hills about half way between the Sign of the Kiwi and the television transmitting station on Sugar Loaf hill about 2.05 p.m. yesterday; She is Christine O’Grady, aged eight, of 10 Taramea street, Spreydon. She was taken by St. John ambulance to the Christchurch Hospital and admitted to the recovery ward. Last evening she was on the seriously ill list and her condition was reported as fair. Mr K. Mulvey, a ranger, who lives at the Sign of the Kiwi, was informed of the accident. He climbed the hill, picked up the girl, and took her to the Sign of the Kiwi while his wife telephoned for an ambulance. The girl was unconscious. The ground was icy and very slippery.
