Coatimondis ForKeas
"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. July 4. Two South American coatimondis have arrived at the Auckland zoo from England. Coatimondis belong to the racoon family but look more like a cross between an opossum and an anteater.
They have long banded tails and upturned snouts. Their fur is blackish brown. The new arrivals are a male and a female about 18 months old. *
They will provide company for the male coatimondi which has been at the zoo for about four years. The custodian of the zoo, Mr D. Wood, exchanged two keas for the pair of coatimondis, which have spent most of their lives at Paignton Zoo, England
