STUDENTS’ EXCHANGE
Japan-N.Z. Plan (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 4. Ten New Zealand university students would visit Japan next summer and 10 Japanese students would come to New Zealand next winter under a scheme organised by student associations of both countries, said Mr Isamu Odajima, of Tokyo, today. A 19-year-oid second-year student of the Hitosubashi University in Tokyo, Mr Odajima is president of the Japan-New Zealand exchange federation. The federation, which had exchanged students for three years with Australia, hoped to begin its New Zealand exchange next year, he said.
Students would leave their own countries during the summer vacations and stay and travel with Japanese or New Zealand hosts, he said. These hosts would be fellow students at universities in the countries visited.
The federation had the support of the New Zealand Embassy in Tokyo and the Japanese Embassy in Wellington, said Mr Odajima.
