CONFUSION ARISEN

Deerstalkers Association Not all deerstalkers were members of the New Zealand Deerstalkers’ Association, and he was concerned that ordinary shooters were sometimes confused with association members, said the new president of the North Canterbury branch of the association (Mr C. O. James). Sometimes after shooting accidents had been reported, he had persons come to him and say “I see one of your blokes has been shot,” Mr James said. In fact no serious accidents had occurred within the as sociation in the last 10 years. He did not want to run down deerstalkers who were not members of the association. “There are just as many good shooters outside the association as there are inside it,” he said. At the meeting of the branch on Wednesday evening the former president (Mr L. G. Perham) was selected to represent the branch in the Wilkinson national title postal shoot He qualified by scoring 133 out of a possible 150 when shooting in bad conditions at the West Melton rifle range recently. Officers elected were: President Mr C. O. James: vicepresidents, Messrs G. W. McQueen, and T. R- Owens; secretary, Mr F. P. Eadc; treasurer, Mr R. L. Grimwood; committee, Messrs A. F. Burdon, D. E.
