OVERDUE YACHT
On Voyage From Suva
(N.Z. Preus Assn.—Copyright) AUCKLAND, June 21.
The Marine Department has alerted shipping to be on the look-out for a 27-foot yacht overdue on a voyage from Suva to Whangarei.
The yacht, Wakanui, left Suva on May 22 and was expected to arrive at Whangarei at the end of May or early this month
The skipper is Mr Phillip Sharp, of 87 Anzac street, Takapuna. He is accompanied by Mr James Davies, of 14 Ewen street, Takapuna, and an unknown man who joined the yacht at Suva. The Wakanui competed in last year’s Whangarei-Noumea yacht race. Mr Sharp stayed on in the islands when the rest of the crew returned to New Zealand.
He was later joined by Mr Davies and the two men worked in Western Samoa.
