HOLIDAY FOR HANDICAPPED

Six seriously handicapped children who attend the Christchurch Cerebral Palsy School are spending a week at Addams House, the holi-day-home of the CanterburyWest Coast branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society at New Brighton.

Members of the school’s staff are looking after the children, and taking them by car to their classes each day. Shopping outings and trips are being arranged for their stay, and a member of the New Brighton Women’s Institute is helping with cooking and housekeeping while the staff are at the school. A television set has been lent for the week by a city firm. Handicapped children spent a similar holiday, intended not only for their benefit but also to provide their parents with a rest, at Addams House in April. The home comprises two motel-type flats.
