FIRST 25 YEARS CELEBRATED
Sumner-Redcliffs Garden Club
The twenty-fifth anniversary of the Sumner-Redcliffs Garden Club was celebrated at an afternoon party at the Stunner Community Centre recently. The president (Miss M. Wickens) welcomed members, friends and the guests of honour, who included Mr and Mrs J. C. Fraser, Mrs J. and Miss M. Watling, and club life members. Floral decorations and the scented posy bowls were on the tables. The posy bowls were later sent to the Jubilee Home, Woodston. Congratulating the club on its 25 years of activity, Mr Fraser read extracts from the minutes of the first meeting, when the present patron, Mrs E. J. Ebert, was secretary.
Mrs Ebert cut the anniversary cake. Musical items were presented by Mesdames N. H. Rawson, A J. Ebert and R. Smith.
Silver cups, rose bowls and prizes were presented by Mrs J. Watling as follows:—Decorative, Mesdames A. B. Cullens, C. Battson, I. Plowright, R. W. Archer, L. Price, K. Allen; cut flowers, Mesdames H. Davies, L. E. Smith, K. Allen; vegetables, Mesdames R. W. Archer, O. D. Cruickshanks, J. Higgins; Mrs G. H. Hedges’ prize, Mrs D. B. Robinson.
