Detention Centre
Sir, —I wish to protest at the high-handed and dictatorial manner the Government have adopted in the purchase of the detention house in Bristol street. This is a complete abrogation of democracy and we expect this sort of thing to happen in Communist countries and especially not from a Government whose main policy is freedom. I will be most surprised if Mr Walker does
not have an urgent question in Parliament on Tuesday and suggest that he also move a notice of motion in order that full discussion on this matter can be had immediately. The petition is only the way that members of Parliament have in these matters of filing the trouble away, and I expect Mr Walker to fight tooth and nail to stop this injustice.—Yours, etc. FAMILY MAN. June 21, 1965.
