Mr L. D. B. Scantlebury, who has been assistant waterworks engineer for the last 11 years, has been appointed divisional engineer for the eastern district by the City Council. He replaces Mr A. R. Mac Gibbon, who has left to take up a position with a private company. Professor J. C. Garrett, head of the department of English language and literature at the University of Canterbury, will leave this week to lecture on the Romantic period at the summer school of the University of British Columbia.
