Ellesmere County Council and Selwyn County Council (residents of Rakaia Riding) may renew their licences by post, provided the current licence is enclosed, together with the prescribed fee of 5s for each year of renewal, plus Is if a licence cover is required, and a stamped addressed envelope for return. Licences may be renewed for any number of years up to five. Personal application must be made by drivers required to produce a medical certificate or holding a licence issued by any other local authority.
