Arbitration Court | Allows Appeal The Arbitration Court, sit- i ting in Christchurch yesterday. allowed the appeal of ’ Roger Alan Weir against the, refusal of the North Canter- i I bury engineering industries’ apprenticeship sub-committee; to grant him an apprentice-; ship as a fitter and turner on j the grounds that he did not I have the necessary minimum two years’ secondary education. The Court granted the appeal on the ground that the case was exceptional and [Stipulated that Weir had to ! attend such evening classes lor correspondence course as | the sub-committee decided. I Members of the Court were Judge A. P. Blair, Mr A. B. [Grant (workers’ representative), and Mr W. N. Hewitt I (employers’ representative). Mr B. A. Barrer appeared i for Weir, and Mr V. E. 'Thomas for the sub-commit-tee.
