(N.Z. Press Association —CopyriahM

RAMSGATE (Kent), June 1. Provisions and gear were ready to be loaded aboard the schooner New Endeavour in Ramsgate Harbour today as a band of modern adventurers prepared to retrace the voyages of Captain Cook. Captain Cook sailed from England to Australia and New Zealand nearly 200 years ago in the original Endeavour. On June 19. a crew of 22 adventure-loving Australians and Englishmen will set sail from Ramsgate, aboard the 100-ton topsail schooner. The ship, owned by an Australian firm, is under charter to the Adventure Under Sail Syndicate, a group of business and professional men with headquarters in London. Under the command of Captain Gordon Keeble, from

Melbourne, the New Endeavour has undergone conversion and refitting in Ramsgate, and is now taking on provisions for the five-month trip.' As the sailing date approaches, the activity in Ramsgate quickens and the excitement grows as the crew prepare to recapture the spirit of adventure of Captain Cook’s original voyage. The crew plan to sail to Sydney across the Atlantic and Pacific, arriving at their destination some time in December. Although the New Endeavour will set sail from Ramsgate, she will not start the Cook voyage until she reaches Plymouth, Devon, the great naval seaport from which Cook began his journey. This ambitious voyage, which is costing each member of the crew £4OO, is to be filmed.
