Patanga In Good Form At Wanganui

“The Press” Special Service WANGANUI. The Waikato visitor, Patanga, looked in good fettle when he worked at Wanganui yesterday. He is a form runner for the Duncan Cup, the first leg of the Wanganui Jockey Club’s T.A.B. double tomorrow. Gallops were held in cold, gusty conditions on a soft track. The No. 1 grass was in use, with most runners working near the inside fence. Patanga (Boyte) worked from the 11-furlong mark at a good pace, sprinting the last three impressively in 394 sec. The runner-up to Re-Echo in the Wanganui Cup earlier this year, Patanga looked sufficiently well to improve on that placing next weekGrapevine (O’Connor), which was eliminated from tomorrow’s hack sprint finished two lengths clear of Mine Host after five furlongs in 64 3-ssec, the final three comfortably in 39 2-ssec. She could be a threat on Monday with the South Island jockey, J. A. Messen, aboard. Tilka (Anscombe) worked over a mile, joining Gusto
