4 Week-end Road Deaths

Cars Collide A girl died in Palmerston North Hospital on Saturday after the car in which she was a passenger was involved in a collision on the Bunny-thorpe-Ashhurst road about 11.30 a.m. She was: Elizabeth Mortensen, aged 13. of Gorge road. Killed Instantly A three-year-old boy was killed instantly when a trailer rolled on him on a farm near Manaia on Saturday. He was: Robert Benjamin James Van Kerkhoff, son of Mr W. Van Kerkhoff Upper Glen road. Manaia. Police were told the accident occurred shortly before noon when the boy was playing with other children near the trailer, which pinned him to the ground. Fonnd On Rocks A police car rushed an elderly woman. Mrs Maude Blackmore, to Wellington Hospital from Island Bay after a man saw her lying on the rocks yesterday afternoon. Mrs Blackmore, aged 74. lives in Adelaide road She was treated for shock and exposure Her condition last evening was comfortable. Police are making inquiries as to how she came to be on the rocks. An officer said she was wet through and blue with cold when found. He said she would have died in another half hour.
