Week-end Air Services

Bad weather throughout most parts of New Zealand disrupted air traffic yesterday. Christchurch Airport was closed by fog until 10 am. and remained marginal for most of the day because of low cloud.

Wellington Airport was closed because of low cloud for most of the afternoon from mid-day. Some flights from Christchurch were diverted to Paraparauinii and others to Palmerston North Because of the re-scheduling delays were fairly extensive Two passengers flights from Christchurch to Wellington last night were cancelled because Wellington Airport was closed. However, because a number of seats were available on alternative flights, only a few passengers had to re-book for today. The weather on Saturday was good but fog closed Christchurch Airport on Friday night and delayed several trans-Tasman flights. An Electra bound for Christchurch from Sydney was diverted to Wellington. Three Wellington-to-Christ-church flights returned to Wellington on Friday night because of fog at Christchurch.
