WAHINE CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS. —As yet the new vessel for the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd., has no bow or stern. On the lower deck can be seen the circular opening where the turntable for vehicles will be situated. The ship will be launched at the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company’s yard at Govan, Glasgow, on July 14, by Mrs F.K. Macfarlane, wife of the chairman and managing-director of the Union Company. The Wahine is expected to enter service between Wellington and Lyttelton in February next year.
