French Decline Invitations

BRUSSELS, May 28
Britain has invited French representatives here to a drumhead service and wreath-laying ceremonies on the battlefield of Waterloo on June 18, the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the battle, but the French have declined.
The approach was made by the British Embassy to the French Embassy here. The French Ambassador (Mr Spitzmuller) also turned down an invitation from the British Ambassador (Sir Roderick Barclay) to a ball at the residence on June 15 to commemorate the famous eve-of-Waterloo ball given by the Duchess of Richmond.
