"The Press” Special Service INVERCARGILL. The Captain Adios mare. Deft, finished her racing career when she beat a good field of pacers in the James McDonald Handicap at Hutt Park early this month. She has since been retired to the stud and will be mated with the recently Imported American sire, Hundred Proof. Deft’s Hutt Park win was overdue. She had been 12 times placed in 18 starts earlier in the season. Deft started 60 times for 10 wins and 26 platings, worth £BlO5.
