RECOGNITION OF CHINA
N.Z. Attitude Unchanged
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 27. New Zealand’s attitude towards the recognition of China remains unchanged, says the annual report to Parliament of the Department of External Affairs. The Peking Government continues to maintain that it is the only Government of China, including Formosa, and that it has the right to impose this Government on the people of Formosa by force, the report says. China’s virulent and abusive attacks on the United Nations on the occasion of Indonesia’s withdrawal suggested, says the report, that it has little attachment to the aims and ideals of the world organisation.
In all these circumstances no reason was seen for any departure from New Zealand’s long-standing position.
