New Peak Of £90,458 ('.N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, May 27. After a 23 per cent increase in sales, Dominion Fertiliser Company lifted its profit this year by £13,600 or nearly 17.7 per cent to a record £90,458.
The profit to March 31 was after setting aside £BB,OOO for taxation (£73,950 last year) and £47,126 (£35,004) for depreciation.
An unchanged 10 per cent dividend, requiring £55,000, has been recommended and it is proposed to transfer £30,000 (£20,000) to reserves. In their report directors consider that the long term outlook for the fertiliser industry is good. The Government is well aware of the balance of payments problem and is taking steps towards stimulating land development which largely depends upon availability and use of fertilisers.
