11-STROKE WINNER
Miss Grigg Champion
Sound, steady golf in a final round of 79 gave Miss S. Grigg an 11-stroke win in the Canterbury women’s stroke-play championship which ended at Waitikiri yesterday. Miss Grigg improved progressively in each round with scores of 86, 81, 80, and 79. There was nothing flashy in Miss Grigg’s final round, simply a series of fine iron shots, sound putting and the ability to be on the green in regulation figures on almost every hole. Miss L. Hillis, who was the only serious challenger to Miss Grigg, was let down by her putting and dropped out of the picture with an eight on the seventeenth, after having scored a birdie on the fifteenth.
