AGREEMENT ON CHANGES
Cook Islands’ Constitution (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 26. The Minister of Island Territories (Mr Hanan) has agreed to changes the Cook Islands Party wants to make to the islands constitution. “There does not seem to be any difficulty now.” the party’s leader, Mr A. Henry, said today after he had talked with Mr Hanan. Mr Henry said he understood amending legislation would be put to the House of Representatives next Wednesday. The party wants the controversial residency clause amended and has called for a house of arikis to be established.
