Overseas Stocks Show Steadier In Trading
Overseas stocks steadied in trading on New Zealand exchanges yesterday, but New Zealand issues were stronger and there were some good gains in this section of the list.
Claude Neon gained another 2s, making a 4s 6d rise this week, M.C.P. rose 2s to 7s 6d in first sales since directors gave their “don’t sell” warning on May 4 and after firming on quotation. Northern Steel gained 2s to 29s and Truth recovered Is 6d to 59s 6d.
Most upward moves by Australian stocks were narrow with G. J. Coles, H. C. Sleigh, L. J. Hooker and Mount Isa advancing. National Mortgage rose 3d to Ils 6d.
