WOMEN’S GOLF
Miss Grigg Six Ahead
High scores were again a feature of the Canterbury women’s stroke-play golf championship when the second and third rounds were played at Waitikiri yesterday. The first round leader, Miss L. Hillis, fell behind the former New Zealand representative, Miss S. Grigg, and is now trailing by six strokes. Miss Grigg had the best second round in the morning (81). Out in two-over-par, she returned in five-over, including a disastrous sixteenth hole where a bunkered iron was followed by three putts. Miss Hillis faded with a round of 87 and Miss R. F. Kent moved into third position with 85, one stroke behind Miss Hillis. Misses Grigg and Hillis lead the afternoon round with 80 and 81 respectively. Putting on the last nine let Miss Hillis down as she was only two-over-par for the first nine holes. Miss Grigg again had one bad hole, taking seven for the par five thirteenth.
