BUTTER IN BRITAIN
Production Booming
(N Z. Press Assn.—Copyright)
LONDON, May 24.
Butter production is booming in Britain, and last month a near-record 16.500,000 gallons of milk went into the churns for butter-making. This figure compared with five -nillion gallons in April last year. It was expected that the May figure would be even higher, perhaps an all-time record, and British-produced butter would soon be one of the best buys in the shops. Already stocks in cold storage had shot un well above last year. On May 14, 73,000 tons were in store compared with 36.000 tons at the same time last year.
