COMING OUT OF RETIREMENT
IBy Our Rugby Reporter!
Rugby players and actors have something in common—they are prone to retiring.
The AU Black nominations from Taranaki yesterday contained three players—R. H. Brown, K. C. Briscoe, and J. F. McCullough—who previously had announced they were not available for international Rugby. And now I. N. Mac Ewan, of Wellington, who retired from Rugby in 1963, has anInounced that he is available
for All Black selection again. The changed attitude of Brown and Mac Ewan probably will be welcomed by the AH Black selectors. Mac Ewan is a line-out specialist, something lacking in New Zealand Rugby now that A. J. Stewart has temporarily retired from Rugby. Brown, although he is now 30, is a polished player still and a very astute tactician. If the AU Black selectors decide to play a sound rather than adventurous brand of Rugby against South Africa, Brown or B. A. Watt would be the type of first fiveeighths that will be chosen.
