NUFFIELD FOUNDATION
Big Grants To Lincoln College
The Nuffield Foundation has granted £4OOO for research on the insects of grasslands to Dr. R. A. Harrison, reader in agricultural zoology, and Dr. R. P. Pottinger, lecturer in the department at Lincoln College. The principal of the college (Dr. M. M. Burns) told his council yesterday that he made this report with particular pleasure as the grant would cover work of vital interest to farmers and a continuing clause suggested that this support might be extended.
A grant of £l9OO had also been made by the foundation to Professor B. H. Howard for work in biochemistry. The Trustees Executors and Agency Company had granted £5OO for the purchase of special equipment to be used in the animal physiology laboratory. The South Island Wool Association made a grant of £25 for the use of facilities at its recent conference.
