Councillor’s Fines
A member of the Auckland City Council, Mr A. Awatere, said this week that traffic fines amounting to £42 in three years had certainly made him careful. “So much so, that I got through last year without being fined,” he said. Mr Awatere said he had told of his £42 in fines at a council meeting to show his defence of the traffic department was impartial. “The £42 was mainly for parking offences,” he added. “Some of the 16 offences occurred while I was a City Council member, bthers before that.”
