Brown House Gets White House Calls

(N Z.Pjt.-Reuter— Copyright) NEW YORK, May 2. President Johnson has thanked a New York housewife for her diplomatie handling of telephone calls placed to the White House that came to her by mistake. “1 couldn’t be more gratified to know that you are handling these calls with all the diplomacy of an ambassador and the warmth of an understanding woman," the President wrote to Mrs Rose Brown, of Glendale in the New York suburb of Queens. Mrs Brown’s telephone number is the same as that of the White House. To complicate matters further, the area codes for long-distance dialing are almost identical, 202 for Washington and 212 for New York. In receiving the calls that are meant for the White

House, Mrs Brown has always been very polite and extended every courtesy to the sometimes distinguished caller. President Johnson promised in his letter to be just as careful in receiving telephone calls that are meant for the Brown family.
