Swedish Visitors For Strait Cable Opening

The president of the International Chamber of Commerce (Dr. Marcus Wallenberg) will visit New Zealand this month with Prince Bertil of Sweden to attend the opening of the power-transmission system between the North and South Islands.

Dr. Wallenberg is chairman of the board of directors yf A.S.E.A. of Sweden, the largest single contractor in the Cook Strait transmission project. The -company supplied converter equipment worth almost £7m. He will be accompanied by four other members of the board of directors—Mr Ragnar Soderberg, Dr. Ake Vrethem. Mr Curt Nicolin, and Mr Marc Wallenberg, jun. The party will arrive at Wellington on May 12 and attend the opening ceremony at Benmore on May 15, leaving New Zealand from Christchurch the next day.
