Annual Meeting Held The funds of the Canterbury Grand Lodge of the Druids’ Friendly Society were in a healthy state, the retiring grand president (Mr B. C. Thomas) told the society’s annual meeting in Christchurch on Saturday. Delegates allocated £50,000 to various funds for the benefit of members. In his address Mr Thomas congratulated the society on having increased its membership for the third year in succession. In a world of rising costs and danger to life and limb the benefits the society offered were of tremendous help, particularly to those about to be married or to parents with young children, he said. The meeting, which was attended by delegates from the Canterbury jurisdiction and by representatives from the North Island, Otago, and Southland jurisdictions, elected Mr S. G. Jenkins grand president. Other officers elected were: Grand vice-president, Mr R. R. Aitken; grand guardian.
Mr F. A. Britton; grand treasurer. Sister G. Hood; elected trustees, Mr A. P. Faulls; board of management, Messrs N. G. Milne, R. A. Brears, T. W. Counihan, S. J. Barnett, H. W. Drewery, K. W. Davis, and S. A. Millar; auditors, Messrs F. W. Hughes, L. F. Palmer, and R. A. Hay; judicial appeal committee, Messrs F. R. Legge, V. J Henry, C. G. Jack, K. L. Heney, and S. G. Baker.
