A fine innings of 183 not out — the highest score against the Australians on the present tour —by the West Indies test captain, G. S. Sobers, was the highlight of the match between Barbados and Australia which ended in a draw on Saturday. Sobers, who was at the wicket for 3hr 34min and hit one six and 28 fours, helped Barbados (299 for four overnight), to score 461 all! out. This equalled the Australian’s first innings total of 461 for nine declared. At the close, the Australians had made 189 for one wicket. Sobers and another lefthander, R. Brancker (100), put on 170 runs for the fifth wicket. B. Shepherd, making a surprise appearance as an opener instead of R. B. Simpson, made an. attractive 76 in 101 minutes and hit. Il fours.
