C.N.D. Urges Withdrawal
The New Zealand Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament had opposed any moves likely to extend the war in Vietnam on the ground that a “wider war” could easily become a nuclear war, said Mrs M. Woodward, the campaign’s national secretary. “We oppose the sending of any further New Zealand forces to Vietnam, believing that this could contribute to a widening of the conflict. We hope that New Zealand will work instead for a negotiated settlement to the problems in Vietnam,” Mrs Woodward said.
“We have already urged that the token force from New Zealand be withdrawn, and that New Zealand do everything possible to support a negotiated settlement,” says Mrs Woodward.
