Obituary
MISS A. I. FOLEY Miss Annie Isabella Foley, who died last week in Christchurch, in her one hundredth year, spent many years in dedicated and active support of Anglican Church work, and in working with children. For 10 years she was secretary of the Melanesian Mission, and she was originator of the Missionary Gleaners’ Union and she was long a consistent and loyal worshipper and worker at St. John’s Church, Christchurch. Miss Foley had a great love and understanding for children. In 1907 she became matron of the All Saints Children’s Home in Palmerston North, where she remained for 11 years, before taking up child welfare work in Wellington. She was matron of the Boys’ Home in Napier, for two years until 1925, when she left and worked with Sister Kate for four years at Te Wai Pounamu College. Born in Riwaka, Nelson, in 1865, Miss Foley came to Christchurch with her parents.
