Sharp Recovery Shown By Australian Stocks
Australian shares showed a sharp recovery in New Zealand stock exchange trading yesterday with 13 rises and no falls after a run of steadily declining prices. New Zealand issues also brightened and closed the week on a firm note.
Mount Isa led the Australian advance after news of a steady dividend and likely profit of £2.9m, while A.C.I. recovered Is to 46s and B.H.P. Is 3d to 45s 3d.
Among New Zealand shares Cash Order Purchases sold 6d up at 12s lOd in first ex-dividend sales, Ballins Industries added 4d to 12s 6d and Carter Consolidated Is 3d to 475.
