FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A cool, disturbed south-westerly airstream still covers New ZealandForecast:

Canterbury.—Winds mainly westerly inland, south-westerly near the coast; mainly fine and cold; showers at times in the Alps and a few scattered showers along the coast. Outlook: south-westerlies continuing, with a few scattered showers. Buller and Westland.—South-west winds, fresh at times; variable skies, with scattered showers; rather cold. Outlook: south-westerlies, with scattered showers.

Nelson and Marlborough.—West to southwest winds, fresh to strong at times; showery periods west of Nelson and on the Kaikoura coast; elsewhere mainly fine and cool. Outlook: southwesterlies and mainly fine.
