BROADCASTS TO PACIFIC
Head Doubts Wisdom (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 29. The Director-General of Broadcasting (Mr G- H. Stringer) doubts the wisdom of suggestions the power of New Zealand’s short-wave radio transmitters be increased and regular broadcasts made to the emerging nations of the Pacific. He said the distance between New Zealand and such nations, and the greater resources of larger countries, made competition difficult. He considered it preferable for New Zealand to increase its output of recorded programmes for broadcasting in other countries.
